Philosophy Of How To Stay Creative | A Talk By Jaime Ibarra – Portrait & Art Photographer

Professional Portrait/Art Photographer, Jaime Ibarra, will be discussing the creative origins of many of his images, his unique way of experiencing color (synaesthesia), and his philosophy of how to stay creative.

About Author: Jaime Ibarra was born in Spain, but spent most of his formative years in Australia. Even though no one else in his family were photographers, his love of photography stems from his childhood: “It is just something I’ve enjoyed doing as far-back as I can remember”.

Jaime was a graphic designer of 10+ years when he bought his first digital SLR camera in 2004. He continued doing design work until the end of 2005, when he decided to leave that trade to pursue photography full-time. During his first year in professional photography, he photographed anything that would pay him (weddings, products, events, brochures, etc.), but quickly he realized that this was not the kind of photography he wanted to do, so he shifted his focus to only producing art.

He began working with professional models to produce concepts that combined photography with his graphic design background. By the end of 2008, he was doing nothing but producing art. With only the rare exception of offers he cannot resist, Jaime chooses not to be “available for hire”. He prefers to regard the camera as he did when he was a child: as a source of joy and experience. He now lives in the beautiful artistic city of Austin, Texas, where he is currently working on a new CD project (he is a professional Flamenco guitarist/composer) and continues to create photographic art.
